ACTIONS Mildly Analgesic, anti inflammatory, calming, mildly bactericidal .


INDICATIONS

Extensive trials of the oil have confirmed that it has a potent sedative effect as well as long lasting anti-inflammatory actions. Tests have shown that although Roman Chamomile is mildly bactericidal it is not as powerful as German Chamomile in this respect. By blending the two Chamomile oils, a broad-spectrum agent is produced with a variety of anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and skin healing actions, hence:-

Acne, dermatitis, eczema (helps the dryness), skin irritations such as shaving rash, insect bites, rashes, sensitive skin, wounds.

Sore tired eyes, insomnia, irritability, nervous tension, nervous shock, stress related complaints.


SAFETY DATA - CONTRA INDICATIONS

Non toxic & Non irritant but rare cases of dermatitis have been reported.


BLENDS WITH Bergamot, Clarysage, Jasmine, Neroli, Rose, Geranium, & Lavender.


OTHER USES Used in pharmaceutical antiseptic ointments. Extensively used in cosmetics, soaps, detergents, high class perfumes & bath products. Used as a flavour ingredient in most major food categories, including alcoholic & soft drinks.


REMARKS

Only in the last 50 years has Roman Chamomile received the recognition it deserves medically. Chilean oil, the market leader is light blue in colour, whereas the English oil is clear. Safe & effective to use for insomnia with babies & children. For babies use a steam inhalation in the child's bedroom. The plant is a small, stocky, perennial herb, up to 25cm high with a much-branched hairy stem, half spreading or creeping. It has feathery pinnate leaves, daisy-like white flowers that are larger than those of German Chamomile. The whole plant has an applelike scent. The oil is a pale blue liquid (turning yellow on keeping) with a warm, sweet fruity-herbaceous scent. Not to be confused the oil Chamomile Blue or German (Chamomila Recutita Rauschert).
